Welcome to Desiree's Doll House

DESIREE'S

DOLL HOUSE

This is a picture taken at the 2004 JDRF Walk for a cure - the hat was given to me for raising over $1000 - WOW.

Hello, My name is Desiree Heath. I was born January 26, on Wayne Gretzky's Birthday. One of my wishes is to meet Wayne and just tell him that we share the same birthday

The picture above is of Destiny and Myself, she is a very special little sister, I love her very much. Visit Destiny's first web page to see some more pictures of her.

When I was eighteen months old I became very sick. The Doctors discovered that I am Diabetic this means that my Pancreas no longer produces Insulin. Insulin is a hormone that enables our bodies to break down sugar. It was discovered here, in Toronto.

I have to be careful of what and when I eat. I am now on "the Insulin Pump" therefore I only have two needles a week rather than three needles a day. I do seven blood-glucose test a day to ensure that I am regulated properly. This is done by taking a small amount of blood from one of my fingers and we use a Glucometer Elite machine to analyze my blood. It sounds a lot worst than it is, I am used to it. Check out my Hot Links for a very good site on Children with Diabetes.

Now we can all help to cure Diabetes! On Sunday June 10, 2007 My family will take part in another Walk to Cure Diabetes. This is our 5th year doing this very important fundraiser. In the previous three years we have raised over $5300, this year we were shooting for $2000. If you would like to help Click HERE to donate.

Nicole Johnson was Miss America in 1998. This young lady is also diabetic, and has been a spokes-person for the cause for many years. She is a very special person and someone I can look up to and say "I can be anything I choose." Keep up the good work Nicole. Click HERE to see a Toronto Sun Article.
